“Ich Muss Garnix” by the Berlin combo Grossstadtgeflüster is just THE song to dance to right now. For example on parties like this one, where I first heard the song. And they have exactly these slightly weird electronic sounds and beats (e.g. right at the start of “Kuemmer Dich” and “Haufenweise Scheisse”) that I love. The sound in “Haufenweise Scheisse” reminds me a bit of an old Josh-Wink-remix of “Higher State of Consciousness” which I somehow lost. Darn.
PS: Isn’t “Overdressed and Underfucked” a wonderful title for a song? The song itself is great, too. If there ever is a category “Best Song Title”, that will be the winner.
What a bliss: Lisa Gerrard (who has one of my all-time favourite voices) and Orbital blending together in the wonderful song “One Perfect Sunrise”.
*sigh*
For years, Tori Amos has been one of my favourite artists.
And Putting The Damage On from the great album Boys For Pele is still such a wonderful song.
Big Fish is such a wonderful film. And “Twice The Love” - the Siamese Twins’ Song - is such a wonderful song. It came to my mind out of nowhere and has seemingly decided to stay there for several days.
The only drawback: it’s a very short song. But so is this entry.
PS: Ok, let’s make it a bit longer. Here are the lyrics:
“Sometimes a girl can feel so all alone
Without a lover to call her own.
Sometimes it’s so bad,
she wants to explode.
Grab the first man she sees and tear off all of his clothes.
But she won’t.
No, she can’t.
She needs a special different unusual man.
Because that girl,
Who looks like me
She has wants, but she has needs.
Any of you got needs?
I’ve had twice the adventure
I’ve cried double the tears.
I’ve had two times the bad times in only half the years.
And now I need a man
With twice the will to live
I need twice the men
Cause baby, I’ve got twice the love to give
I need twice the men
Cause baby, I’ve got twice the love to give”
I especially like this part:
I’ve had twice the adventure
I’ve cried double the tears.
I’ve had two times the bad times in only half the years.
A little late, but here it is: a wonderful song by Tunng.
The whole album is nice, but this song is my favourite. You can get the video here in the Media-section.
While cooking dinner, I listened to the radio and heard “Foundation” by Kate Nash for the very first time. Quite a catchy song.
It reminds me a bit of The Streets and Mike Skinner. And I wonder whether she will be just another one-hit-wonder. But anyway, it’s a great song. And it describes a familiar situation quite well, doesn’t it?
Alright, after listening to “We Get On”(found here, I vote against the one-hit-wonder and for a more permanent career in music.
feat. Emma Louise Yohanan has been on my playlist for quite some time. Check out the homepage of Downliners Sekt and spread their music.
Because, as they put it:
Both albums are available for free in high bitrate mp3’s (320kbps),
as an answer to the copyright cartel and its anti-file sharing scheme.
The spread of the internet network gave people instant access to an incredible source of material, and as we make significant use of it, we wish to contribute to the collateral damage. We bored as fuck with the music industry. We give our music away.
Every once in a while I rediscover forgotten parts my music-collection. Reminds me of the libraries in z-space in Terry Pratchett’s books.
And this month I stumbled upon Dead Can Dance. A great band with wonderful music.
The song “Ariadne” is one amongst many beautiful ones. And if you know the song: not much sense in putting the lyrics in here. =)
If you like slightly melancholic music with ancient and international-traditional influences, go for it. The album “Into the Labyrinth” might be a good start, the live-album “Toward the Within” too.
