2006
It has been in my mind for several years: Leaving this city and moving to Berlin.
There always was a variety of reasons not to go. But in the last months I made up my mind. Next march is the time. Well due after almost 11 years here (interrupted by two stays abroad).
I just told one of my employers that I will go away next spring. I’ve worked with him for four years now, so we know eachother well on a professional base.
And this sunday I talked to one of my closest friends here about my departure.
Goodbyes combine such a strange mixture of feelings:
- sadness because of leaving dear people and places behind
- fear of the big unknown future (you make yourself believe that when you know a place the future is not so uncertain - yeah, right)
- excitement because of the big unkown future
I really wonder how it will work out.
PS: I’ve given myself two years to settle in professionally.

I use contact lenses. And when I cut onions, not so much as a hint of a tear enters my eyes. No problem whatsoever.
But from time to time, I use my old glasses instead of the contacts. And when I cut onions then, my tearflow reminds me of the niagara falls. The last time I had to stop because it burned so much.
Strange thing.
Is it because the contacts “protect” the eye? But they just cover a small part of the surface (I’m not wearing the larger soft ones).
No clue. Anyone?

Boy, names surely can put you on the wrong track.
I had a meeting with a woman today for a benefit event where I’m supposed to perform. We just had email-contact, so I knew her name. An old-fashioned name, makes you think of women in the second half of their century. Right before we met, I got a message saying “For you to recognize me: I have red hair. See you soon.”
When I got there, I scanned the place, saw several women in their fifties with red hair in all shades. I thought: great description, red hair. Almost as good as: I’m the one with the nose in the face right above the mouth.
I was about to call her on her mobile, when a young and very pretty woman enters the scenery. Red hair, but definitely not over fifty. More like just about twenty years young. Of course, it’s her. She’s working as a model, too. Her top did not really have a neck line, more of a waist line. Red hair and freckles. Great combination.
And she has a boy-friend (she mentioned that after we had talked for one hour), which spoiled the fun a bit. But then she seemed quite selfish, so no real loss.

We have two local newspapers here. Both brought reviews about the latest episode of our theatre soap today.
And I cannot decide whether to be happy or not.
Because the content of one review is quite critical. But it is placed on the main feature page, right next to the review of Casino Royale.
Ok, I’m happy. =)

Today we performed part 3 of our theatre soap. As we produce one play each month, it’s quite some work and very intense too, so I hardly have the energy nor time for spare-time activities. But when I get home, like now, I feel empty and exhausted, but at the same time agitated. Not very easy to fall asleep in such a state of mind.

While getting information for my London-trip, I stumbled upon this rather strange ad:

Ehm.
Well.
Yes.
Great Idea. Always wanted to do that…
