30 05 2005

There’s an alternative-punk girl in our library. For years now, I’ve always thought: Oh my, she does look sympathetic. But, being more of a dreamer, that was it.
Until one day in March, I asked her where to find a book. Got it, almost went out, but stopped in the entrance. I thought what the f*ck, enough dreaming, time for finding out for real. So I returned to the information desk and asked her whether she would like to meet for a drink later-on. Well, she would. So we met. And met again. And again. And again. In short: we’re together now.
What I got to know just yesterday is this:
Two days before I asked her for a date, some other dude had the same idea. But she declined.
So, when I enquired about the book, she thought: “Ok, if HE wanted a date, I would say yes.”
I guess that’s why she look startled when I made my advance. Funny coincidence…

How it should work…

30 05 2005

Some students ask you to voice-over their film project. Alas, almost no payment, but glory, very ambitious and competent young filmmakers and a nice little piece of art.
Some months later, the young ex-student has a job for a little ad. And you are the one she askes for your voice.
I hope she will do bigger movies in the next years and still remember me…

Everybody (for a given value of everybody) says that’s how it should work. It’s nice to see it sometimes does.

You know that it’s summer…

29 05 2005

when you have about 30 degree Celsius in your appartment - at 10 o’clock in the morning.
But lucky me, there is a nice open air bath just around the corner, where I’ve been with a colleague. And there are worse things than being covered in sweat, of course. ;-)

Wanted: Games like Incubation

26 05 2005

Is “Jagged Alliance” something alike?
Building a team and round-based gameplay, that would be fun.

brand new toy

26 05 2005

About two weeks to go before i finally get a new pc.
The old one surely has fulfilled its purpose. Six years it faithfully helped me - and even managed to run Warcraft III - Reign of Chaos (one of the best games ever).
But with brown coal getting more and more expensive and more and more hamsters dying in the hard-disk-treadmill, it’s time to embrace new technologies.
I’ve heard, there even are computers running on, ehm, wait, eh electricity?!
Isn’t that cool!
And then I can finally meet jeck and Squee in the place to be…

Goggles-Test

24 05 2005

Near my appartment there is an open air bath. Although the water is chlorinated, it’s much better than the indoor swimming pools in the city.
I tested my brand new goggles (a birthday present from lili) and they are great. Not only do they prevent water from getting to my eyes (which, of course, is the main purpose), but they also make every day look like the perfect summer day - orange-coloured glasses do have their merits; and I don’t get these painful and annoying dents on my nose.

Live on stage: Holly Golightly

16 05 2005

Been to a nice concert from Holly Golightly with K. (my girl-friend).
Funny show, Holly is a very charismatic singer, but 15 Euros for a CD were a bit too much…
When you’ve already paid for the concert, the CDs should be cheaper.

Busy days

1 05 2005

The last 10 days have been packed again.
High work tide, so to say:
One pre-premiere and a week later the premiere (both went great) of “Die Muse mit der scharfen Zunge” and rehearsals for three projects (kid’s theatre, murder-dinner and “Die Humanisten”).
“Die Muse” is a Revue/Chanson/Cabaret mixture about the 1920’s in Germany; the songs and lyrics by Hollaender, Brecht and Weill still are unrivalled.
BTW, it was for this play that I took the tap-dance lesson.
Two more shows an Monday and Tuesday and then I’m off to the next LARP (my second as a NPC this year) and after that to my dear friends in B.
That will be a celebration! Well, actually more a feast, as we indulge very much in satisfying our taste buds with huge amounts of food.
Others might object we are just gluttons (nice word!), but we know better, right
jeck?
