Mistakes in "Lord of the Rings"
27 03 2004I just rewatched “The Fellowship of the Ring” (the extended version) and wondered about one scene:
when Isildur - after gaining the Ring - and his soldiers are attacked by orcs, he jumpes into the river with the Ring on his finger. While wearing a heavy-looking chain mail. And a breastplate, too. So when he is stuffed with orc-arrows, his body drifts on top of the river?
I mean he is not wearing mithril or elven-made armour…
But then again, maybe the river-water has very much salt in it. Or Isildur suffered of extreme flatulence, having so much gas in him he could not sink to the ground. Or the orc-arrows had such a good light wood shaft that they worked as a raft.
Hmm….

or the current was very fast-flowing…I know of cars, which were previously fully submerged in flash floods, that are suddenly brought to the surface and pushed along by the current during storms….
nope. not a very fast river. so what explanation to choose?
the cop-out…more visually appealing to moviegoing test audiences
