Sluggishness overcome

8 03 2004

I finally managed to go to the Aikikai. And the first Aikido-lesson was amazing. Jesus. The trainer can jump and roll so smothly… hardly making any sound when hitting the ground. The techniques are complex but good (first impression, but still).
And the dojo is a) very nice b) very close and c) very cheap.
So it seems as if the world of martial arts has me back.

@ Squee:
well, you have to wait quite some time, untill i can show some aikido. the movements are so complex, the hand positions have to be precise, the stance and leg moves and everything.
kung fu seems like a piece of cake sometimes. no offense meant.
it’s just that aikido techniques take so much more practice before they can work. but then again, the failure is just more visible than with kung fu as you can rarely judge the impact of a kick or punch as you do not hit with full force. Which is good of course.
So maybe, you need as much practice for a good punch as you need for a good throw.
Perfection is never to be found.
