I need to vent

When will politicians get that computer games are not responsible for anything? Everytime some fucktard think it’s okay to blow his head away after shooting innocent people some miserable old guy thinks he can make up for his and societies failures by yelling “We must stop killergames! They are evil!”.

I’m now bound to remind you that only a few centuries ago books were treated the same way. And now they seem the pinnacle of entertainment that is deemed appropriate and educating. WAKE Up ALREADY AND CHOOSE SOMETHING NEW TO BICKER AT! HOW ABOUT VOTING MACHINES, RFID-pASSpORTS AND COMpANIES THAT GET RICH WHILE KEEpING WHOLE COUNTRIES pOOR?

Just an idea: Jeck

pS: Sorry. Just had to do that. It will not happen again… soon. If someone is looking for me: I’m going to stab some orcs retaining my sanity nonetheless.

What can we learn today?

We can learn what social interaction in MMORpGs really is about.

Also “vomititious” is a good word to describe fashion crimes. (Found in Harley Quinn #3.)

Soziogramm

Everyone knows everyone around seven corners or so they say…

Outsider sometimes works as voice actor for a radio show. Tonight they needed an expert on phishing. Since none of the usual suspects* where available, Outsider thought I would be a good candidate for a five minute interview on the topic.

Since I already know some things on the topic with two days time and internet access I might become a reasonably informed interview partner. But since time was not an option I declined but offered to look for someone.

I flooded every available communication channel to reach 46halbe who happens to have a certain social peer group who knows a thing or two about this topic. In turn she communicated with her peers and gave me two numbers which in turn I gave to the people at the radio show.

By this time communication went over five hops:

Radio people -> Outsider -> jeck -> 46halbe -> experts.

Between the Outsider and me where 580 km, but one of the experts 46halbe found lives in the same city the show was produced. As I told the radio person the name of this expert she was like ‘What? We worked with this guy all the time! We just lost his number!’. Well, well. I was glad to help and realized once more: It’s a small world and a crazy place indeed.

What a waste of time.

Nachdem ich gestern in dem Notebook-Laden ein bisschen laut werden musste um sofort behandelt zu werden, habe ich ihnen heute eine Dankes-Mail geschrieben um sie wieder gnädig zu stimmen.

[Quote] Betreff: Vielen Dank.

Sehr geehrte Herren,

From Justine’s Blog:

[Quote] I fuck up. Everyone does. … But what is really important to me is that I won’t lie about it. I can forgive all manner of sins, but I can’t forgive lying. Lying errodes the very core of my trust in someone and if I don’t trust you then I don’t need to know you. It is as simple as that. Before lust, before friendship, before love there has to be trust or forget it. … I’m pretty open-minded and tolerant, try telling me the truth. The likelihood is that I will deal with it. Don’t ever fucking lie to me. [Quote]

Exactly.

What women want.

From True porn Clerk Stories by Ali Davis.

[Quote] Women want you to be independent but emotionally available. They want you to be attached but not smothering. They want time and attention, and also some time alone. They want you to grow and change with them. They want you to be all kinds of things, and it’s going to be a different list for every woman, and that list is always subject to change without notice. I read half the blog before but lost the link. petrol mentioned it again.

We are all nerds now

…at least according to The Guardian.

Will it now be rebellious to become “MTV-cool”?

[Quote] These days, the takeover is complete. In the meantime, the nerd has replicated and sub-divided to the extent that it’s tough keeping tabs on him. The fantasy junkies who thrill to Lord of the Rings and role-play games form one obvious tribe. Yet so do the sci-fi aficionados who have graduated from Star Trek conventions to the sleeker, trench-coat fashions of the Matrix movies. [Quote]

Flash Mobs

spiegel.de and telepolis reported the next net-trend: Flash Mobs. people arrange meetings online and appear as large crowd doing nonsens for no longer then 10 minutes and then vanish again…

Better definition by “London Flash Mob”:
“Flash Mobs are seemingly unplanned gatherings of large groups of people that converge in public (or semipublic) places for brief periods of time. All members of a Flash Mob simultaneously converge to form the mob and then quickly disperse again at a given time, all members departing in different directions.”

Flash Mob for Berlin:
people are starting to complain. A local radio station tried to organize a Flash Mob, which of course, didn’t work out and missed the whole idea

Next mob: 08/01/2003 18:00 KaDeWe/Tauentzienstr. 21-24 10789 Berlin

18.00 Uhr - gather at main entrance of KaDeWe
18.01 Uhr - take your mobile to your ear, say “ja ja ja”
18.02 Uhr - applaud! clap your hands!
18.03 Uhr - leave

More Flash Mob for Berlin:

Edited because I messed up the list. Edited again to include more links.
