I wonder what The Outsider has to say about this.

Dr. Abdul Nachtigallers Nachtschule einschreiben.
To understand you have to read “Good Omens” by Neil Gaiman.

What can I say. Ubuntu still works. What a good feeling…
I finally began to write. After weeks of reading and surrogate activity I started to really work on my diploma thesis. Of course I had to do so: I tricked myself into it when I promised my tutor that I would send him something to read by the end of the week. That would be tomorrow and I already have three pages. It may not sound much, but for me it’s a good sign because on of the most difficult steps is behind me: The Beginning.
Because of that I’m in a really good mood, which helped to survive the day at the central dictatory radio where we had the bi-weekly planning meeting for some hours. After that I met Lili who read my stuff and gave me some usefuls hints. On the way home I found a quote which really describes what I experience when reading some of the books about media theory (Horkheimer and Adorno come to my mind:
- from Walter Moers’ “Die Stadt der träumenden Bücher”
Which is a really cool book. props to Outsider who recommended it to me. All of you who can read and understand German: Go get that book. Everyone else: pity yourself and pray for a translation. Or start learning the language that brought you such wonderful words like kindergarten, angst and blitzkrieg…

From “I, Lucifer” by Glen Duncan
“The key to evil? Freedom. The key to freedom? Money. For you, my darlings, freedom to do what you like is the discovery of how unlikable what you like to do makes you. Not that that stops you doing what you like, since you like doing what you like more than you like liking what you do…”
“A change, as they say, is as good as a rest.”
I think I heard the first quote somewhere else, but I can’t say where. The book is really a must read. Ever wondered how the devil sees the world? There you go…
Sehr seltsames Buch ansonsten.

From the Discworld Monthly:
[Quote] Fey writes: I’d like to inform all other
pratchett fans that ‘Wyrd Sisters’ is going to be staged in Berlin,
Germany, in February, 2004. The performance will be by students of
English of the Humboldt University, Berlin. Exact dates are February
12-15, 2004. [Quote]
Yay!
Discworld:
“Lu-Tze had long considered that everything happens for a reason, except possibly football.” - from Terry pratchetts “Thief of Time”
I just finished that book and liked it very well. The idea of time slicing seems very reasonable too and explains why I’m clumsy at times: My slicing technique is so bad that I need the two moments instead of one to get things done. :-)
I’d to see the Thief of Time Movie by the Wachowski Brothers and ILM. Surely would make for some spectacular sfx…
Mobile:
I’m using an old Sagem cause my Sony passed for good this time and I found out a ‘cheat’: If you start writing an sms and begin with “hey da” the mobile shuts down. Very peculiar… I wonder what the use of this function is…
Karate:
Today I had the chance to achieve the first belt in Karate. Unluckily the girl which agreed to take my shift fell ill yesterday and I didn’t manage to look for another substitute. Well, I didn’t feel ready anyways. I’d rather take the test when the teacher thinks I’m good enough and not because six months passed and now is examination time again…
