Yeah, right…

[Quote]

Sonst noch was?

2005 week 4

Monday
I really can’t recall Monday. What I know is, that I sent my laptop away when I gave it to a totally trustworthy man. Then I went to the university and finally began to write and talked to the p about my last studium generale. No memories of the night but I think I might have played Incubation.

Tuesday
While sitting in the lecture “History of Computing” which this day was more like “A historical view of pC history from a fruity point of view” I suddenly became dizzy. It was not as bad as last time but still enough to make me nervous. I had a doctors appointment anyways.

All she said: “I can examine you again and again, but these problems seem very psychosomatic to me. At least thats what my intuition says.” Well, mine to but it’s scary nonetheless. Maybe it’s time to start the pt-experiment.

Wednesday
After the radio play workshop, which was fun cause we read from “Das ultimative Handbuch des nutzlosen Wissens“, we seized a restaurant. (Leo? It will soon be rated here.) The food was really tasty and we had fun until we began discussing a serious topic which clearly was not to the liking of all attendees. Should I ever feel the need to write something political here, the question whether secret DNA-tests of parenthood should be allowed or not surely would nake for an interesting topic. Even later I had a humanity-might-not-be-so-bad-after-all-experience when 46halbe took pity on me and drove me home. Thanks!

Thursday
Mainly working at the 2nd force. I will not write about it here cause someone might stumble across this post and I’ll rather not be fired for saying things about ….

bites his tongue.

Friday
It came from all sides. Sherpa even called me to tell me about it. And then…

…I succumbed.

Since I wrote some six pages this week - which probably will be utter crappy nonsense - I even dared to ask Sherpa to bring me the client the next day.

Saturday
Meeting of the 2nd force team. We had a lively discussion about what we should do and in the end agreed that it won’t matter much anyhow. But at least we’re prepared.

Some WoW later that evening.

Nice game.

If I find someone who is roleplaying there you can switch off this reality, I won’t need it anymore.

Seriously: I have set myself strict playing time per day limitations.

No, I’m not telling how much. Sue me. =)

Sunday
Breakfast with GM, a nice snowy day and a rather grumpy gnome. I fear at least two of these events are connected.

placeholder rhyme

Not really sure if I write this today,
because the time went to fast away
so just in case
to hold this place
some words to mark my intention’s decay.

I managed to do it, but I rather liked the rhyme. =)

"AHA! Fool! You finally gave in…

…I knew you couldn’t resist forever.

MUAHAHAHAHAHA!” - jeck’s evil inner voice.

All I could say: “But it was so easy!”

In related news:

[Quote] Congratulations! You have successfully completed the World of Warcraft account creation process! You can now use the Account you’ve just created to login and play. [Quote]

Well, maybe there is still hope for my diploma thesis cause what I did was just creating an account. That doesn’t necessarily mean that I have to play the game, right?

RIGHT?

G-Blog Wishlist

Two things keep popping up in my head:

1.) Will the ever so omnipotent ADmin grant us lower species which are the normal users this neato flickr image bar his highness has on his blog? Oh how marvellous that would be. Maybe we should do a big donation rally to convince HIm that this would be a good idea?

2.) Nothing lasts forever. To live is to die. Only decay is for sure. Also I hope that it’ll never happen, there always is the remote possibility that this site vanishes because of some unthinkable disaster (mars attacks? revenge of the sixty foot woman?). Is there a possibility to have some kind of backup functionality which lets me save my entries and the comments to them? Like an RSS-Feed of the whole blog or something?

It was a clear Tuesday morning…

…and I said to myself: I better be fast to today, so I’ll use my car instead of public transportation.

And it took me only thirty minutes to scrape all the ice, which had two days time to freeze really good, from my combustion engine powered vehicle.

Great work!

Miscellaneous

I wonder how the Outsiders gaming night went, since I haven’t heard from him since. Not that I’m his keeper, but maybe he lost at settlers and got a real chainsaw somewhere?

UpS picked up my laptop today. Well, I hope it was UpS. It was a man in brown uniform who signed the receipt, but later I realized it could also have been someone who happened to tap my phone and thus new an UpS pick-up was scheduled to happen today. Am I to paranoid or to trustful?

I also wonder why I can’t talk normally to the p. It’s always like trying to communicate with some goddamn superior father figurine.

*pff*

He said yes anyways… =)

2005 week 3

Monday
Feeling nearly fully restored I resumed taking my place at the university where business as usual ensued. I got two mails that day which really delighted me.

The first was from the vampire which actually had written upon my experimental invocation, received my answer and even wrote a reply which I got that day. Being used to monthlong communication pauses (hence the other nickname ‘Kommunikationspusche’) this was a refreshing change. The same day I wrote an answer but only time (or maybe the vampire) will tell if the things said there were a good idea.

The second mail came from Asus and basically said: “Well, if your’re Notebook is broken, just send it in.” I am glad to hear that and really hope that their service is better than apples.

Tuesday
Had the monthly meeting at the university and a very funny lecture where the prof kept bashing microsoft in spite of saying he wouldn’t do so. Hehe, I don’t mind…

Skipped training and instead went to the doc who took three phials of my blood. Maybe a closer examination of my vitae will suggest a reason of the things that happened last week.

Wednesday
At the Hörspiel-AG we made voice training. While trying to bring out some resonance and loudness (Rufübung) jK told kK: “Ruf mich an!” It took some moments before the meaning of those words had sunk in.

Then I had dinner with Squee at her place which (the dinner) was all tasty and yummy. Only the legacy of the snotling was a little disturbance to our comfort.

Later we had refreshing coktails: Cucumber/tomato for me and apple/cinnamon fpr Squee. And then we saw Ong Bak.

Thursday
Went at a meeting at the 2nd Force. Our viceboss asked us to try write paper a while ago in which we should lay out how we think our website can be improved. They said we would talk about it in that paper.

As the meeting took place our boss told us: “Well, I think it would be a good idea to write down how we could improve our site. So I propose you write it down and we meet again in a few weeks to discuss the stuff.” I just don’t know what to say about this.

Also one of the senior colleagues which is a member of the office for quite some time but has never worked online is from now on our direct supervisor. So the connection to the longterm planning team should get better. I wonder how this one will work out…

Friday
Didn’t went to university. At the warmup football match at the beginning of our training a guy gave me a forceful kick to the chest while I’ll tried to hinder his throw-in. I was really shocked by this event.

To understand why this shocked me you have to know: We don’t do some kind of shaolin soccer, we just play football to warm up. I was standing approx. half a meter away from that guy waving my hands in the air to make it hard for him to throw. I didn’t attack or touch him in any way. He is very muscular and has done a lot of fighting/martial arts stuff for quite some years. I’m rather fragile, you might call my figure ‘geeky’ and my reflexes are fast compared to a turtle. Which you can see easily when looking at my belt. It’s yellow, not black.

I know that out in the streets you might get kicked and no one will care. But I do learn karate to learn to cope with things like this some day. I expect a martial arts school to be a place of respect where I can learn accordant to my present skill. I expect to learn at a safe place and our dojo stopped to be that place this day.

Later I heard the same guy gave on od our girls (half his weight, height and age) a concussion the week before.

After the training I saw the “House of Flying Daggers” together with Loose, Lili and some guys from karate. Unluckily some of them didn’t lile the movie and couldn’t refrain from giving comments while the movie was running. I didn’t say anything cause I didn’t feel like I could be polite and didn’t want to snap at them. After the movie I told them in polite manner, that I think one should leave, when the movie is not to ones liking. “Well, but we paid?” That is what I call egocentric ignorance.

Nevertheless: I like the movie much better, than the Outsider did.

Saturday
The training got worser still. After a very good lesson was nearly over, one of the guests nearly broke my thumb. When sparring on the ground you are expected to use reasonable force and stop immediately when your opponent knocks on the mat. Well, so much for theory. He grabbed my hand, got hold of my thumb and nearly seized it farther than it’s supposed to go.

After waiting for two hours the doctor finally had time and asked me: “If it doesn’t hurt that much, why are you here?” Fuckhead. Luckily there seems to be nothing broken or ripped apart. After that I wrote my sensei a mail in which I asked for a 6 month leave from out school. Maybe I’ll stop going there altogether.

The evening was playing time again. “Ticket to Ride” this time, which was fun. I even won once.

Sunday
Nothing much happened also I am supposed to write at my thesis right now, because at the end of January I’m supposed to have a chapter finished. But I haven’t done a single page yet. Everytime I sit at my computer trying to do something I feel like paralyzed and I don’t know what to do against it.

The Outsider spent some (online) time with me and gave me a good trashing at incubation. Well, to be honest now our overall score is 3:3. We also phoned for an hour or so. It’s nice to know that some people are there for you when you need them. They even can read between the lines…

Man. When I look back at the first three weeks, I’m really wondering how this year will turn out. No headstart this time. Well, maybe all the crap comes at the beginning.

Next Week
Sunshine! productivity! Great Choices! A whole chapter written in just seven days! And maybe I’ll overcome this freaking depression by then…

Virtual Martial Arts

Saw Ong Bak yesterday and have to admit: This movie rocks. In many aspects it reminds me of the first Metallica album “Kill ‘em all”. It’s straightforward, powerful and very brute force. It also shows much potential for things to come.

The style which is shown in the movie is also like this. Of course you have the usual break-a-leg-with-a-nasty-sound-scene, but I got the impression that every technique in Muay Thai that doesn’t directly aim to the head makes way for a direct hit to it. But then that could just be because such scenes were shown more often…

another link to a short introduction (flash with terrible music)

In other but related news: Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution turned out to be a major suckage. There are two kinds of fighting games: Those that give me the feeling of a direct connection between my fingers on the joypad and the things the characters do. And then there are things like VF4E, where I have the feeling, that I have to push the buttons in the right order to later watch what is happening on the screen.

I have the suspicion that this has something to do with my internal clock cycle being out of sync with my pS2. Squee hadn’t any of those problems. Boy, was that frustrating…

I’ll never ever buy a game again before testing it. promised. Also it’s not really the Outsider’s fault I think I’ll blame him anyways…

I really wish there were a martial arts category.

I have to insist on…

..posting my weekly reviews on sunday. Since it’s not possible to redate entries and g-blog had the hiccups yesterday I had to juggle my posts around a bit.

So 2005 week 2 is to be found at the place where Robs Accessories TM were which I reposted today.
