I have a Western Digital 600 AB harddrive which until today served it’s purpose very well as my internal systemdrive.
I have an external Firewire case for IDE harddrives which until today served it’s purpose very well with housing an Seagate ST380021A. As I tested it with two other discs it worked very well.
As I got my new comp last week [Shuttle SN45G] I had the craziest idea: Why not change the drives and use the slightly bigger and better ST inside and the old WD as backup in the Firewire case?
I saw these new combination working one time: After installing the USB 2.0 drivers. After that Xp stolidly ignored the WD drive. I tried everything: jumper settings, new partitions, testing with other drives, searching the internet for clues and setting up a whole new Xp installation.
And what came of it?
Nothing…
I hate Murphy’s Law.
My brother wants a new drive anyway.
*Grrr*
