Flash Mobs

spiegel.de and telepolis reported the next net-trend: Flash Mobs. people arrange meetings online and appear as large crowd doing nonsens for no longer then 10 minutes and then vanish again…

Better definition by “London Flash Mob”:
“Flash Mobs are seemingly unplanned gatherings of large groups of people that converge in public (or semipublic) places for brief periods of time. All members of a Flash Mob simultaneously converge to form the mob and then quickly disperse again at a given time, all members departing in different directions.”

Flash Mob for Berlin:
people are starting to complain. A local radio station tried to organize a Flash Mob, which of course, didn’t work out and missed the whole idea

Next mob: 08/01/2003 18:00 KaDeWe/Tauentzienstr. 21-24 10789 Berlin

18.00 Uhr – gather at main entrance of KaDeWe
18.01 Uhr – take your mobile to your ear, say “ja ja ja”
18.02 Uhr – applaud! clap your hands!
18.03 Uhr – leave

pix

pictures from the last con are online.

We even had a bear there:

And the “Character with the highest ICSF*” goes to: Tarallorn the High-Elf with his cute little daughter:

The Con is yearly and especially made for children and their parents. It’s real LARp nevertheless and a lot of fun too, cause those pesky little halflings are really half my size… :-)

MtG:Coat of Arms

I finally found the card my Faerie deck was lacking: The Coat of Arms*. An online card dealer sells it for 15 Euro a piece. I need four. Ack. Hope there’s another way to get them…

What about a “Games / Trading Cards” category?

* Beware IE-Users: This site features a lot of pop-ups. I’m so glad that it’s possible to run Firebird at work. :-)

Edited because I wouldn’t like “Treading Cards”…

plaid

“parts in the post” gets better everytime I listen to it. Especially part two. Highly recommended! Favourite song at the moment: Remixed versions of “Wholesome” [org. by Nicolette] and “Street preacher” [org. by Jung Collective].

They’re going to do a Hellboy movie. I noticed the character some time ago but other than a mini series [ "Box full of evil" by Mike Mignola ] I never read the comic. Is it good?

Another one waiting to be seen this fall: Underworld

[via Zhaneel]

I thought it was over…

…but after seeing my friends play it hit me again. Faeries are on the run again!

new toy

Cancelled the notebook-idea as I realized that I can get the cool SN45G for the quarter of the money I would spend on a notebook that could satisfy my needs. Now I got my speed quadrupled, 1 GB of RAM [ not really necessary, but I love the sound of it :-) ] and it looks cool too. Only the fan is a little noisy, but after reading a few modding sites I think there’s a remedy to this problem…

Bloody Faces

As I came to work today the news of the killed Hussein brothers wasn’t that new anymore. Nevertheless the pictures of the two killed men were shown in the first film of our news show. Since I don’t feel that good when seeing dead people, I managed to look away during our shows*. But when shifting through newspapers they suddenly sprang at me from the frontpage of the ‘Bild’-newspaper ( that’s something like the sun or the … is there something like that in US? ).

What were they thinking? Two mauled people on the frontpage of a newspaper probably everyone in this country will see? Either my standards are weird or the standards of a lot of other people.

Suddenly I feel old.

Do we need ‘experts’ to see what is right or wrong?

[Quote]

* Because Death is a very private and disturbing thing to me.

Edited cause I found the quote of an human rights expert who says it might be against human dignity two show those pictures because dignity does not end with death. Edited again cause I messed up the tags.

Requiem

Today “our” next Academia-con was definitively canceled. “The Head” didn’t has the time anymore to take the risk and manage all the financial/booking stuff and none og the others ( including me ) felt that they could take the responsibility. I really looked forward to that con – even more because I didn’t make it to the last one, but that part of german LARp has come to an end.

Rest in peace.
